Do a Google search for "javadoc api" and amazingly the API Docs page shows up at number 9 (number 10 if you omit the quotes). I somehow doubt that the tweaks last week had this effect. I guess not too many pages have these words in the URL, title and page content. It’s still nice to be in the same list as Sun. Interestingly Sun did not end up in the first place. I found this via the log files when I noticed a referer (not a typo) of the Google search for javadoc api.
Well, a year and a half later, we are in position 56 for the non quoted Javadoc API search, and 34th for the quoted “Javadoc api”. Sun now is in position 1 and 2.
A full 6 years after this original post, and amazingly, we are in position 9 in Google for the non quoted Javadoc API and 6th for the quoted “Javadoc API”. I expected Google to improve and move this site way out of relevance. Bing did not exist when this was posted, but has this site in position 24 for the non quoted Javadoc API and 13th for the quoted “Javadoc API”. Maybe Barry has an explanation.
